Is your phone constantly ringing?

  • A letter requesting they Cease Communications will Stop the calls: Be sure to send via certified mail!
  • Your Creditors don't do all the calling: Your creditor may have hired a debt collector to contact you.

What Can Debt Collectors Do?

  • Debt Collectors Can Send You Letters: Collection Laws regulate what can be said in a collection letter
  • Debt Collectors Can Call You: Collection Laws regulate what can be said during conversations and in voice mail messages
  • Debt Collectors Can Get Information About You: This can include pulling your credit report and in some circumstances calling others to find out about your location.

What Can't Debt Collectors Do?

  • Debt Collectors Cannot Harass You!
  • Debt Collectors Cannot Lie to you!
  • Debt Collectors Cannot Curse at You!
  • Debt Collectors Cannot issue a warrant for your arrest!
  • And remember, you cannot go to jail just because you are behind on a few credit cards!
